You have been warned

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen, today, we are going to be talking about Nier: Automata. Let's get started.

Nier Automata, if you are a fan of sci-fi, or just apocalyptic games, this is will tickle you right away. This artwork of a game has such simple colors but done so well, it has no true multiplayer except you'll be able to collect bodies from other players who died and get free loot. This game is taking place after the fourth ending of Nier, and also is a spinoff of an old series called Drakengard. Actually, multiple games were spinoffs. Did I mention the game is Japanese? Well expect .5 second delay with lip synch if played in English.

Plot :

The Story is two or three (A2 but she is towards route c) androids, 2B and 9S, set out to fight a war against the machine army of invaders from another world. Cause the game is set in 11945 AD. 2B and 9S are a part of an organization called YoRHa, their goals are to protect all humans which are all on the moon, and to retake earth from the alien machines. Nier: Automata opens with 2B and 9S assisting resistance leader Anemone and later Pascal until a later fight against 2 unique bosses, named, Adam and Eve, to find out the ones who sent the machines to earth originally died long ago, leading up to the 3rd protagonist and second playable character, A2.

A2 is a boss battle herself, as she is on the run from YoRHa. With the absence of Adam, Eve goes into a rage which you have to beat him as 2B and 9S, both times when eve is killed, unavoidably, 9S is killed by 2B due to 9S being infected with the machine's logic virus, you have to play through 2B's perspective then 9S' before being able to continue to enter route C, which the deaths of Adam and Eve, YoRHa launches a full scale invasion, 2B becomes infected with a logic virus, leading A2 to kill 2B, after she loads her memories into her sword, 9S sees, swearing revenge against A2. A tower shows up, very unique, after a time, between switching back and forth with 9S and A2's perspective, they meet at the top of the tower where A2 reveals 2B's true identity, 2E, she was specifically designed to kill 9S, anytime he would find out the truth about Humanity and YoRHa. These triggers ending c or d. if you choose to play as A2, you will cure 9S of the logic virus, and sacrifice yourself, choosing 9S, you will both die and the tower will change its function. During the credits, Pods 042 and 153 speak to the player upon finding that the data for 2B, 9S and A2 are still intact. If the player agrees to save the data, you will trigger ending E

Gameplay :

The combat is smooth with 60fps unless you're playing on ps4 and not pro or a pc that runs smooth. You won't be getting 60fps and 1080p. Regardless the game looks fantastic and has an amazing soundtrack, which is pretty typical from Japanese games. This game is made of open world, top down shooter, and side view elements, it keeps it interesting in perspective. The game is quite the grind and difficult with its 27 endings. Yeah A-Z and another IF you get the DLC. The gameplay for 2B is close range with much stronger attacks including fighting with your pods for 2B, 9S, and A2. However, 9S isn't the strongest fighter as he was not designed for close range combat, instead, he fights with hacking into his enemies. Aka, you're playing a minigame. For A2, she is much stronger than both 2B and 9S, as she has a special ability that can get you killed if you do not have a healing build or drowning in healing and has a slight higher damage output towards machines out of what I have noticed. For 2B and A2, you have light and heavy attacks/weapons. You have spears, bracers, one handed and two handed, you can even use bare fists. You'll be dodging constantly against higher levels, also, chips are the best, get the best chips for the best loadout, for either an insane damage, high defense, balanced, or even a XP build. The customization for outfit isn't in an abundance, but there still is customization, but who doesn't like a badass android with red hair? Weapons can get stronger, and each have a unique look to them [Tiny spoiler: for anyone who has played, Final Fantasy XV/15, you all know the iconic engine blade, well that’s one of the weapons you can get!]

Personal Opinion :

I went into Nier: Automata not knowing what it was, I played it with over 100 hours and I'm still not done, I've beaten the main story times over and it's worth it every time. I loved everything about this game except my 2 complaints.

1. The enemies do not level with you through each playthrough, at times they do. But no enemies in open world through the 3rd full playthrough.

2. The Moose and Boar are the only things that do level with you, they almost one shot you every time.

The game is worth it if you are a Dark Souls or a Final Fantasy lover. Regardless you're going to have a fun time with this if you enjoy story lines, just wanting faster combat, or just want to see a booty. This game is for you. Oh, and you can fish too.
